Because /diy/ is apparently only for replacing sinks and digging holes.

I've been eyeing the sailrite machines to do some sewing with heavy/thick materials, but it has come to my attention that from my understanding, the manufacturer of the sailrite machines also sell them to other brands who sell them for much cheaper. Who do I buy from? What other sewing machines would you all recommend? Preferably with metal gears and a walking foot.
