>>1951542>What backpacking routes would you recommend?depends what shape you are in and how long and hard you want to hike but the most popular area is dolly sods (also the most crowded), otter creek and cranberry wilderness are nice too, and tea creek and seneca creek have backcountry areas you can backpack in as well.
I have been out west, I spent a year living in central oregon. It was fine but I prefer the forests here. I remember I had to wait until July for the snow pack to clear, there's nothing like that in the mid-atlantic
