I'm looking for something that will perform similarly to my Atom LT, but in lower temperatures. I'm currently looking at the Atom AR, LEAF Cold WX LT, and the Kappa. Are there any comparable products from other brands I should be considering? What should I get bros?

Even good quality synthetic insulation can lose half of its loft within a year. Shit is just not durable. The fibers break from compression.

Compressing the shit out of anything will fuck it up, this is not wizard science. Don't compress the shit out of your gear and it will last plenty long enough. No piece of gear is going to last forever if you abuse it.

I don't know if the new versions are the same, but I have an Atom LT that is about 5 years old and a Patagonia Micro Puff that is maybe 7 years old, and the Micro Puff is what I use as a 'step up' from the LT when it's too cold for the LT but not cold enough for a big puffy.

I've got a rab puffy with primaloft gold that's never been put into a stuffsack. I've had it three years and the loss of insulation is hugely noticeable. Synthetics lose loft even through regular use. BPL has lots of reports showing this.

Meh, I agree with that anon. Multiple companies have come out and have said that their best synthetic insulation still degrades ridiculously fas over time.

Arc'teryx even came out and said you shouldn't wear your synthetic layers while commuting to and from work. Just sitting in a car seat will severely degrade the loft.
