The left is 410 stainless steel and the right is polypropylene (I think). Ideally I'd love a cancer-free canteen altogether but does such a thing even exist anymore?

The left is better. I got tired and looked for one with a metal cap and on amazon there was only the USSR griddle canteen kit, and it doubles as a distiller, so yay for me. It's in the mail. I'm going to drill a hole in it and try to seal it as they show.

This particular gourd seed was adapted to grow in hot sonoran desert climes, mainly southern Arizona but can be grown almost anywhere.
Planted after last frost or in hot summer with monsoon rains.
Look up " native seed search .org". They sell native seed stock (corn, beans, squash, chilis etc)and have alot of growing information.
The indians cut out a section of side and use as a dippers with natural handle shape. Or cut off the handle section and make a wooden plug to keep water as a canteen.
Or to use as a rattle for singing songs.

Yeah I just now read it. Changed the policy to sell I guess. Just sign up and say you are a member of a tribe, they don't verify that I think. Or else find a native and ask them to sign up and buy the seeds using their membership.
All the seeds listing was unrestricted last year and open with a membership(to receive catalog etc). This is the first time I've seen a change in years of getting seed from them.
I think it has to do with commercial farms taking their seeds and trying to copyright or patent the seed genomes, these plants that were selected and improved by .generations of tribal farmers.
Look up San Xavier Co-op farms also. They are a tribal seed source also.

It's good enough to be used as kitchen pans and pots but I've never heard of anyone using it as a canteen. The concept just seems dumb since you can't easily remove the oxide through the narrow opening.
