Can someone help me paint a fairly accurate picture of the region between South Carolina and Virginia, nature-wise? I see a lot of depictions of the place having great forests and perfect seasons, but I know it can't be 100% accurate. Living in Florida my entire life, I have a firm grasp on its nature, and it's definitely not the "endless marshes and everglade jungles" depiction you get in media. Is the area from NC to VA dry? What's the soil like? How about the wildlife? Bugs? Are the seasons balanced? How thick are the forests? Are there large areas of forest, or just woods mixed in with the suburban hellscape? Is the place over-developed?
Documentaries which feature the forests there, specifically those focusing on the revolutionary war, make it look like a real paradise. All mild and open without being boring.
