>>1956767Well, for those that stay in the bigger cities, salaries would be the same, obviously. But yes, generally salaries follow equivalent cost of living for that area. But the big names already have established salary bands for their workers in most/all states, so it's already decided.
However, there's a wrinkle if you're thinking of going remote. What I've been thinking about is the fact that these bands are established state-by-state only and are geared towards COL around the home office. But, if you move to a relatively remote part of the same state as 100% remote, you'll still keep your high per-state salary. In a sense, this is what happened to me when I went remote. I'm getting paid "capital city" prices but living lower tier.
I can see this trend continuing too, so I've been looking at property to buy in these satellite cities. Right now it's cheap, but I'm already seeing the tech hipster invasion starting, so I'm trying to move as fast as I can on that.
