im looking for a good outdoors axe to cut down trees and shit u know what you do with an axe. whats a good brande thatll hold a edge and last a while

unless you're planning to chop trees for 8 hours a day, anything with a 3 foot handle should do the trick
larger heads will give you more force and chopping power but less control without practice
and btw, get fucking eyepro, I took a wood chip into the eye 15 miles from the trailhead, took almost an hour to get out fully

If you want an axe get a splitting axe, not a felling axe. As said already saws are the way to go for crosscut, you're not going to be cutting down 20 foot trees either way. A large axe wouldn't really be suitable though for splitting small logs so you would want a hatchet really. And if you're going to be carrying around a hatchet innawoods you might as well get a knife for batoning instead because you're not going to be cutting down 8 inch wide trees and its easier to use, generally lighter and more useful. An axe is a homesteading tool. For the same weight I can carry an rtak2, sawvivor and a backup knife
