>>1960527im in fort davis. there isn’t much to terlingua but if you are looking for dinner the starlight theatre is interesting. alpine and marfa are the proper towns worth visiting (if it werent for covid). if you like western history fort davis nhs is worth it, best preserved indian wars army fort.
as for big bend, most everythings been mentioned but the top priorities would probably be santa elena, ernst tinaja (if you have a decent vehicle) and the window and emory peak trails. also stop at the newish outdoor dinosaur exhibit on the road from marathon, its neat.
instead of crossing the border proper if they have the trails at the river open you can just swim across. done it multiple times from the hot springs area
most important piece of advice is to plan your trip months in advance because car and backcountry campsites fill up. once they reopened the camping from covid everything got booked for 3 months straight.
also ignore wv scum
>>1960623the state park is great, especially if you have a high clearance 4x4, to get out to the backcountry car camping sites. otherwise its a more solitary if slightly less dramatic big bend. the only problem is the texas state park system is fucking awful about fees.
