>>1964521I got to take a few /in/ friends on their first proper backpacking trip ever this year, an easy 3mi with only about 500ft elevation gain but enough isolation to really see the stars. It was the best night I've had up there all year, not a single cloud, no smoke, and best of all no fucking moon. The stars were fantastic and they were really taken aback by the sight. We smoked cigars and shot the shit about existence, mortality, and all the other cal that can come with the occassion.
I wish I would have taken the time to get some better shots, but I didn't have my tripod with me so getting a good angle with rocks was tough.
