I camp with a USGI poncho. I really enjoy how small and light it is, and how easy it is to set up. It's served me well for a long time, but there's a single issue: it's open, no matter how you set it up. I normally build an a-frame, and have built a shelter with three corners tied down, and when the wind inevitably whips through I get cold and have a hard time sleeping.
So, /out/, has anyone improved on this design while still keeping it simple and lightweight? It seems like all one would need to do is find a way to add doors, as you can just pile up snow/duff around the bottom of the poncho.
