>>1965225The AG trapeze suspension (“anti-gravity”, where the pack gets its name) is easily one of the most comfortable designs out there. Some claim the added weight of the pack is worth it, as it’s so comfortable and carries a load so well, but that’s subjective. The Sovotta offers nothing unique; just a tough, well made bag with two straps.
>>1965279>more functionalWhat functions is the AG lacking? The Savotta looks like it doesn’t have hip belt pockets or side pockets, the former being a nice convenience and the latter being pretty standard in nearly every hiking pack. Also doesn’t have an ice axe loop. InB4 muh webbing. Ice axe loops exists because they work better than webbing. Also no trekking pole stowage without taking off your pack on the Savotta, which is more functional than you might think.
>>1965282>not enough padding The AG is like a Cadillac of packs, and most Ospreys follow the same pattern. Even looking at the pictures you can see that the shoulders and hip belt are plush, especially compared to the other pack. I don’t know anything about the Savotta but the first thing I noticed was how thin the shoulder straps and hip belt are. The shoulder straps look like they have no padding at all.
>>1965288>65 is too smallDepends on what you’re doing. If you’re hiking in all but the worst winter conditions 65 is pretty big. Most thruhikers on any of the big three hikes in the US are using closer to 50L, but that’s just hiking, and not in the winter. I don’t like any frameless packs over 50L, but that’s just me.
