Unless there's someone turning people away, or a locked gate/barrier etc, "Road Closed" is more of a guideline than a rule.
If there IS a person/barrier, then it's game on to find a way around.
This almost inevitably ends in some sort of epic mis/adventure, from which I learn little if anything, and I do it again next chance I get.
Success can also be measured by degrees of failure.
If you skid on some ice and break a headlight, well that sucks. Fail.
BUT if you put your whole car in a ditch with 3 wheels off the ground, have to walk 10km in a snowstorm in the dark to get a tractor or loader to pull you out, then you've got the beginnings of an epic memory, and that's a win.
One time we misjudged a gap between trees off-roading and got wedged in a 2-door truck. Had to pop the windscreen to get out. That was before we'd even got to our destination. Shit escalated from there. Quite the weekend.
