pro's:
They are fine, economical compared to hex gas
fuel can still be used if stove breaks
Cheapest option so good for household emergency kit
Cons:
Fairly easy to tip burning fuel everywhere, so you need more clearance and there's a much greater risk in fire prone areas. Clearance can be an issue if you are in the snow or need a windbreak.
when you put them out it's hard to know if they are completely out.
residual vapor makes everything smell
Poor weight/fuel ratio compared to hex gas
burns inefficiently if used expediently (unlike solid fuel)
People going any distance probably opt for Hex instead as it's far lighter and not nearly as expensive as it used to be.
But they remain a favourite of home disaster kits and those who camp with a car regularly (cost better than hex, often can't start a ground fire)
