Just killed my first deer today. Nobody in my extended family of hunters has even seen a buck this season so this weekend we started dropping a few does to put meat in the fridge. I've never killed anything before and I'm from out od state on vacation eager to get the chance so I spent about 12 hours in the stand over the course of 3 days and finally got my shot at what my complete lack of experience told me was about the right size and shape to be a doe. After a clean heartshot I walked up to it, and realized it was a little small and my grandfather told me it was a buck fawn about 6 months old.
How do I cope with the guilt?
