It needs to be adjustable, so you have to fasten the connection with rope. knot in ur pic looks alright. sticks have to be long enough for wide adjustment, about waist height I'd say. a pine set up like that should hold good enough weight.
If you cant find sticks big enough in the area you're probably not gonna find anything to support a big fire either, so in that case maybe just bring a gas stove.
