My mistake was relying on a sawyer mini.
>australian blue mountains
>hike 17km and camp
>do another 12km off trail
>following 5 creeks
>carrying all my gear including 7l of water and 5kg of food
>got too excited and was climbing down sheer drops of 5 feet or more
>realized im fucked and came too far in
>there is no where flat to sleep anywhere
>i've drank like 5 litres of water just getting here
>try to sleep without any flat ground with the sound of a raging never ceasing fast flowing creek next to me
>cant
>hear feral pigs
>think about how a feral pig could tear through my tent and rip my head off
>open tent and look around
>literally see a giant ugly pig about 50m from my tent
>leave bluetooth speaker on playing music all night
>start heading back
>have to actually walk around as im not strong enough to pull myself back up
>run out of water
>try to use the sawyer mini
>it immediately breaks
>set up camp
>boil water and drink it
>year pigs, cats and dogs all night
>be completely freaked out
>get sick
>liquid diarrhea
>decide to stop boiling it and just drink it straight
>takes 2 nights to get back
>shit myself on the way
Before I went off the trail parts were collapsing and I crossed a bridge that was completely rotted out. And actually getting to the water was very difficult I had to take my bag off and climb a giant sharp rock that had a 40 foot drop on all sides and it was one wrong move dead you jump off the rock at the wrong side and the ground gives way you're dead so I just drank water out of the puddles using the sawyer and it was pretty shit. I had to use so much water to cook.
