fellow stalker here - you can but I would advise skipping the PKM pouches in favor of actually useful pouches for whatever gat you use. Then rig a small backpack to it, I use one of those waterproof NVA ones tied off with some simple paracord. There are tons of D-rings and loops and shit you can use.
Pic related was an early attempt at making mine viable. I came to my senses and dropped the plash palatka and wool blanket (both useless memes) in favor of a Spark Sp1 bag, a really compact sleeping pad, and a tiny tent; the tent is the only thing I have to strap to the outside now. The ass pack just has 48 hours worth of MREs.
Pros:
-decently comfy to wear
-lots of weight sits on your hips
-lots of mag pouches so I can take lots of mags
-seriously so many pouches and pockets and things that I keep forgetting "wait where did I put my lighter? where's my headlamp?"
-hasn't even heard of back sweat, though additional packs may change this
Complaints:
-hard to carry enough water, I used carabiners to hang two canteens from the belt and it was not enough, you'll rely heavily on a water filter
-low overall capacity for bulky things like clothing, sleep set, etc
-rigging a bag to the back means anything in it is carried by your shoulders
-might scare people (non-issue if you're sneeki breeki or don't care; moot if you're stalkan properly)
-difficult to wear comfortably over a plate carrier with plates
Things to consider
-carabiners are your best friend if you go this route
-you're going to need to go minimalistic and cut down on bulk
-getting things from the mag pouches can be tricky with the AK model; PKM model pouches are going to be useless for mags unless you actually own a PKM
-tricky to find one that's actual SSO/SPOSN and not just an airshit clone, do not trust greyshop
-you might wait months for shipping when you do find one
