My favorite jacket is still made in Canada. They have the gortex pro stuff. Pretty either them or Outdoor Research. Gortex isn't very friendly towards small manufacturers. So only the big names can afford the huge minimum orders. Also their warranty is good.

Their shoes are absolutely garbage from what I've seen. Not a fan of the packs either.

Packs and shoes are trash with the exception of their tactical bags which unless Uncle Sam is footing the bill aren't worth 400-700 shekels. Atom LT is the comfiest, lightest jacket I've ever owned but is for athletic use. Hiking it keeps you perfectly thermo-regulated but take a ten minute rest and you're chilly enough to get moving again to warm it up.

Assault AR top is fantastic. Assault AR pants in medium-large must've been designed for some assless dickless freak because the distance from the waist to the crotch is about 5 inches. Literally crushes your cock and is a huge torsion risk. Apparently they break in but I'm not willing to put my nuts on the line to find out.

I have a very thin running jacket from them which is awesome for trail running. I have on of their goretex approach shoes and did plenty of hikes in them and they are slowly falling apart after 5 years I think. I have the alpha fl jacket and it is my to go jacket for 75% of the weather in my country. I have waterproofed it again twice and its leak proof, warm, airy and light as fuck and looks good.

True chads and true alphas wear Arc'teryx. Look at the materials used, quality, QC, deadbird just does it better than a lot of other brands. Outdoor Research is basically on par IMO though.

Norrona definitely fits better, I think Patagonia is made to fit stocky mexicans.

I had that same problem with some of the north face jackets I tried on: go up a size and it looks like a deflated wavy arm guy you see at a car dealership, but go down a size and it doesn't even fit you right. The other good sized jacket brands (at least the ones I've had) are stuff like Columbia who make some nice fitting rain shells, and Marmot. The faux down jackets don't feel like they'd insulate you but they surprisingly can hold in a lot of heat.
