>>202475>Our findings suggest that only those proficient in firearms use should rely on them for protection in bear countrySo, with that, we can surmise that the argument HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GUN. Its all about the user, and basically nothing else (They even say the type of gun doesn't matter....)
So, where the fuck is this huge anti-gun argument coming from, when the people making the argument are sourcing their points from places that say the GUN has almost nothing to do with it, but it is infact the PERSON using it.
So again, what the fuck people?
I don't want to label anyone, especially not my fellow /out/doorsmen, but the only logical explanation for the gun hate is the contemporary societal demonizing of the firearm.
Sure, bear spray is more effective, but its only useful against fucking bears that are attacking you. A firearm is a dual-purpose (or more) TOOL, you can't hunt with an aerosol can. Sorry folks.
Again, I don't really fall on any one side of this debate, I don't carry a gun with me on 99% of my /out/ings because I don't deem it necessary because of my location. However, if I was traveling hundreds of miles from home for an extended time into rough country you can bet your ass it'd be on my mind. And please, don't start with the "Guns only escalate things" bullshit, anyone with a calm cool head on their shoulders will know when its appropriate to let another party become aware of their firearm. Just because you have a gun doesn't mean you go around pulling it every time a leaf drops or a twig snaps.
