I'll be moving to Washington state soon and I want to do Mt.Baker. I've done Mt.Fuji before but it's so commercialized when I went in the summer that I didn't need to bring special gear. I've read comments how dangerous Mt.Baker is but all the videos I've seen makes it seem pretty straightforward/no technical skills needed. I dont want to spend $1k on some class/tour if I can do it myself for free.
So what should I look up? Any specific gear? I already have crampons and an ice axe but I think cross country skis might be a good choice for the first say 1/4-1/3 of the hike from what I've seen.
I'll take any advice you guys can give me.
