>>1990531It all depends on their quality. That can vary significantly, there are some shitty shoes out there and there are some very good ones.
Usually government ordered mass produced stuff is pretty bad due to corruption, poor quality control and user feedback being ignored by powers that be.
On the other hand smaller batches ordered for elite/specialised units like paras or mountain troops have a better chance of turning out OK since end user opinion caries more weight in those circumstances.
Then there's civilian mil style shoes, again some better some worse, some cheaper some expensive, some somewhere in the middle. Quality of those in principle tend to be dependent on price but usually are much more comfortable even without the breaking in period then their mil standard counterpart.
I have worn out 3-4 pairs of standard mil each lasting 2-3 yrs depending on abuse inflicted. They were chaffing in the same places every time when new to a point where I've been putting plasters on my feet in those places as a prevention (surprisingly it did work) and the first few weeks they were creaking with every step. After that they were fine, fit for purpose, relatively cheap and easily available. (pic related)
Once I could afford it I got some better ones and never looked back ;P
