>>1993577the absolute biggest drawback of that style rtt tent is the height and added drag while driving. you need to climb on your car to reach up to unpackit /fold it down. thats the thing that makes them go from an instant setup to a 15min painstaking chore. why anyone deliberately would lift it above the bed like that is beyond me. thats not the worst setup i have seen, but i doubt they can reach everything without atleast stepping on the wheels. i keep mine on a homemade bedcover and it takes me less than 3 min to go from behind the wheel to im inside my sleeping bag when weather is at its worst.
plus is you never worry about ground conditions, its always dry flat and comfy, you pack it up with pillows, duvets and whatever comfort you want, you can get them fucking huge and you wake up with a view not just looking straight into the grass. if you want it on the roof of a suv consider the clamshell style instead or even ground tents, its practicality for thoose cars is kinda gone with todays products.
