How do I know if my hiking boots fit well?
They're comfortable to walk around in but my toes touch the tip of the shoe when walking downhill. I bought them today but I have extreme autism so I'd really prefer not to return them for a larger size

Your boots are most likely too small but you could also be lacing incorrectly.

Returning and getting a pair of boots that properly fit your feet would be the best way to go. You may even have to change brands as all brands have slight sizing differences, just like everyones feet. If you don't your feet will be in a world of pain and you won't want to hike defeating the purpose of buying boots.

Just wave them off or tell them you're all good. I hate when pushy clerks pester me just because they want the sale. If your REI is anything like mine, it's staffed entirely by city dwelling zoomers who are barely old enough to have their first job, and haven't gone /out/ a day in their short lives.

My REI didn't have one of those platform things, I tried on like 3 pairs of various different shoes due to shitty stock in sizes, right now I'm just thinking about returning them ASAP tomorrow and just going to big 5 to buy some shitty cheap pairs off the shelf that I can try on myself without interruption
