>>2015376Agreed. Out jobs I've done include:
-human statue/robot silver street performer
-dog walker
-poster hanging (wheatpaste and staplegun)
-marijuana trimmer
At all of them, I was working part time, pulling in about $900 to $1,800 a month, on average. Now I'm working a Software Developer job, making $100k, full time. Though I like programming, being stuck indoors all day, full time, working with a bunch of lame yuppies is fucking terrible, and programming as a job is nothing like working on your own projects. I miss the sun. I miss working outside. I miss the peaceful repetition of largely self directed blue collar work.
>>2014931This is what I'm doing now. Spent my whole 20's travelling, moving to different states with my ex, doing a lot of anti logging stuff in the PNW, being semi nomadic, living a punky minimalist life, etc.. Now at 33 years old I'm making $100k, my second year as a software dev. Plan is:
>work full time dev for 5 years>save and invest $370k due to super low expense lifestyle>quit office and go back to part time work>let savings grow, untouched, another 5 years>after 5 years, at +9% ann., $570k>full retire, and start pulling from savings at $1.5k/month, increasing amt each year>at age 60 have $1.2m saved
