for what purpose?
opinel makes good cheap knives for some applications. i mostly use them for gardening but have taken them camping/hiking before and wasn't "missing" any of my usual knives.
blades stay sharp for a while too, much longer than any other cheap knife.

Cheap and still useable?
Cheapest possible?
Good with no budget defined?
Moras have a great quality for the price. Hultafors also makes good cheap knives but they never really got much of a cult following (on knives, Hultafors is more known for the hatchets/axes).

Balzer is okay, probably chaper than Moraniggers.
Nieto if you get used to the awkward shapes and sizes.
Fox knives seem durable but never owned one myself.
Okapi for smaller, but reliable lockback/ratchet knives; they're good backup for the main knife.

Based and extremely underrated.

Bought a mixed lot of about 50 of these fuckers almost 15 years ago for just under $45, shipping to Euroland included. They're B grade, but still work just the same.
