If you're in the lower midwest, for instance, you get to enjoy nasty ice and cold temps, but no lasting snow. This means your only real winter option is hiking, which is just a shittier version of the same activity in the other four seasons, plus retardedly short, overcast days to make it even worse.
I'm guessing most of us who hate winter live in a region like this. Crosscountry skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling sound like a lot of fun. Too bad they don't exist here.
(On the bright side, spring and fall are absolute kino here.)
