When I collect bones I typically carry a plastic bags/big sandwich bags. most bones are safe to handle. when you clean them put water in a bucket then add a little bleach or hydrogen peroxide don't mix the too

I collect antlers. The shitty ones get turned into knife, cabinet, or drawer handles and the nice ones I’m saving up for a chandelier. They’re pretty common around anywhere you will find their bedding areas and I’ve sawed a few good racks off road killed bucks before. Got a single elk antler but I’m expecting to find one or two more this upcoming season.

I've found a number of bone's out there but I prefer to leave them in the wild. It feels a bit off to collect bones, even though I like the way they look aesthetically, it just feels wrong in a way.

Always pick up bones. I have a dozen raccoon skulls like every other Joe, a moose skull, deer skull, beaver skull, sheep skull, perfect painted turtle shell, plus a dozen assorted bones from unknown large animals. Keep meaning to make them into things, never get around to it.

I knew a guy who collected bones and other interesting stuff.
Had an elephant tusk (bought second hand, was hundreds of years old)
Had dried horseshoe crabs on his wall

Had a real human skull in his workshop. Don't remember who's it was but it was pretty funny.

We had one of those real human skeletons at are high school kids stool almost all the finger and foot bones from it. At the end of the year the thing was completely destroyed and they threw it into the dumpster I would totally have taken it if I found out sooner

Bucks shed their antlers late winter early spring, so now is the time to start looking. Anywhere you know there is deer, look for tree rubs and scrapes or even around bedding areas.

Here's the skull right after I found it, cleaned it up a bit. I just found a dead deer and I live in a quiet area so just waited till it skeletalized and collected all the bones. Some of the smaller ones got dragged into the bush and I couldn't find them but it'll look nice when its finished.

I do the peroxide thing too, it's really good for cleaning out organic matter in hard to reach places, be careful not to leave it soaking for too long though because it can soften/weaken the bones.
Some people boil bones, this fucking stinks do not do it indoors.
You can also leave them outside for bugs to pick ghem clean and for the sun to help dry them out just make sure they don't get carried off by scavengers, attract unwanted animals & bugs to your yard or scare your neighbors.

its not wierd collecting sheds. its big business. Antlers are used by a lot of people for making decorative stuff.

I look for Elk sheds at my cabin but I have not found any big racks yet. There was a young bull killed by wolves early this winter I am going to go back and look for his skull after the snow melts. Critters have scattered the carcass pretty good already

my grandparents own a ranch so i have cow and horse bones on tap more or less.

shed hunting is a big hobby, you just go out towards teh end of winter and get an idea of where the elk and deer are hanging around, and then just hope you get lucky when spring starts to hit, thats when they drop em more or less

I stopped collecting deer skulls after I had a pike, but I also have some kind of carnivore I assumed was a mink or fisher cat. When I get home I'll post the porpoise and pilot whale bits I have.

My moose skull I pulled out of a very rotten roadkill moose on a side road where nobody knew she was laying. Skull pulled out of the head flesh like a foot out of a wet sock. Triple bagged it and drove it home where I left it in the woods a few months to get picked clean. Worth the smell.

Some rabbits. I haven't found one with an intact nasal plate for over a year or two now.
I had recently found the tiniest rabbit jaw i had ever seen and it was complete, but i was careless and broke it while it was in my pocket on the way home.

I cleaned the gull skull when it was fresh and it looks good, but it felt as unpleasent work, atleast the eye removing part, no bad smell ofcourse. I tried burying with two other animals, but burying is just a bad gamble and it damaged both.

These are my most prized ones - trainwrecked badger, traindecapitated old dog, 3 foxes ,1 jackal and one rabbit . I also have alot of goat/sheep skulls , a magpie skull, a semi eaten cow skull that retards from my country had found the same and thought it was an alien skull kek and bags of misc big bones.

Pleistocene giant deer molar found on the beach.

When boiling fox skulls most teeth tend to fall out. Whats a good way to keep track of where the teeth go? It feels like i am just winging it although i try my best by image.

This is part of a fish jaw found on the same beach. Chances are a lot lower to get stuff there now. I think atleast 5 times a week there are 2 guys who go out at night at lowtide with headlights and pick everything up to sell online.
