I ordered a new gas stove set yesterday from Primus and just saw this. They’re okay OP, they’re not really neccessary, but if you have a wide pot and strong winds, it might just tip the balance for ya (pun intended).

I don't know, why can't you just level the ground? If you dig a small hole the size of the canister it won't tip, dig a little deeper and it helps with wind. A nice tight hole is your friend.

It's nice, but not needed. It keeps you from accidently knocking your stove over and makes it a bit more stable when setting something heavy on top.
