I would love to drive way out into the snowy wilderness and camp for a week while it quietly snows

I live in the Rockies, and could easily get stuck very fast driving out to some backcountry spot in the winter. It'd be possible with skidoos, or a cat, but not wheeled vehicles.

if you meant overnight, unless there was multiple feet dumped then it would be fine. you can shovel in front of the tires and just drove on to the top with traction boards or a winch.

deflating to 12PSI on tires with chains its possible to go on almost any snow but i havent tried it in snow above 3 feet.

best for travel in south and central america for sure. You can get them in any large city in any country down there.
Not true with many of the higher end offroad tires .

you need to externally vent the diesel tank because it will slosh and off gas like crazy or mount it outside your vehicle. the chinkshit may work but just spend on a propex/webasto instead so you won't be on three fuel sources, assuming you're already using propane like a sane person. Or get a gas one and run a new fuel line from your tank.

any tent you can get a stove in will be max comfy with that and a naphtha lantern, like a prospector or outfitter tent, but you could rig up something with tarps too

KO2s and chains with some recovery gear and other vehicles you can go most anywhere

I don't have a specialized setup but I also don't really need one (yet) (cope). I have a mid-2000s Chevy Express 2500 van with all-season tires that has enough power and clearance to get pretty much wherever I want. When I actually want to go offroad anywhere I take my KLR which is a beast on forest service roads. It's a new setup for me so I don't have any photos but I'm happy with it.

It is a general offroad driving safety and technique book.
it discusses the different types of mechanisms on the car, and how to manipulate them to maximize traction, safety, maintainence, trail ettiquete, recovery, etc.
it is a very general book that could be halfway encyclopedia and halfway book.

it is tailored more towards drivers who are going to be hardcore, but it encompasses all drivers and conditions. It is a worth it buy if you just read the chapter about traction physics and optimization, and recovery.

I spent 3k on my '93 Jeep Cherokee. Lifted with a roof rack. Everything works fine at 270k miles and I've taken it on the beach (Texas) and slept in the back in rainstorms when camping. You can go cheap if you buy a good make/model and have a nice off-road adventure

I used to have a snowtrekker hot tent years ago it was pretty fun to go out for a week at a time. Was hard to find time. But even a 2-3 dayer was not bad. It was comfy as fuck with the wood stove going, i used to take the tent down and set it up on the ice during the day for fishing. Winter camping is a lot of work though you need to cut enough wood the first day or two to make to comfy enough that its enjoyable.
