We did find gold but not what was described by by the stories. mostly flower gold in small streams that appeared and disappeared at random with no real cause it seemed. I ve been to the approximate spot of Volcanic Browns camp but didnt find much there either. If the spot was a mine it has likely been wiped out by land slides or changing land features. The box canyon mentioned by Jaxon could match any number of locations up in those mountains. I do recall though we found a miners pick and a decomposed backpack, but that was from the late 60s not from the turn of the century.
