A lot of environmentalist / naturalists are like that desu. Even Aldo Leopold was periodically an elitist cunt. But, hey, you asshole hippies, not everyone can fuck around on the government dime in national parks and BLM land for most thier life, that doesn't mean they don't deserve to experience nature.
But I think it kinda comes with the territory of being that comitted to nature and see it constantly harmed and compromised. It can only make a man with passion, bitter. I mean, they were elitist, but not wholly wrong.
