The Stokes field guides (eastern, western, full NA) are my favorite of any that I've used. Much better than Aubudon. The Kaufman guides are a lot less technical, but give you these wonderful descriptions that help you remember each species. The Kaufman guide has great organization and illustrations, too. I recommend both if you're into birdwatching.

This link has 200gb of books, of which there is about 1.7gb of /out/ related .pdf's.
You can just select the folder called "Survival" for the out stuff, but there's some other good non-/out/ stuff in there too, worth a look around.
Pic related is the contents of the survival folder.

I found it pretty handy. He has a plethora of books on the topic: I also enjoyed the one on first aid. It won't make you a master of survival but sets a good framework to grow upon.
