2hrs in the surf might get you a few rides on similar sized waves.
On the river you can ride until you fall, then just get back on a minute or 2 later. Zero effort.
You learn by standing on a wave. Compress your learning time by ??%.
Also, when you hit the salt, it’s genuinely noticeably more floaty (um.. word?) than fresh = win.
You can’t easily learn on an ocean wave the same size as a river wave.
Unorthodox advice, but time will see this become more popular I assure you.
