I'm trying to get out there, much like you guys - and I need help.
Let's start small; what would I need to survive in the forest from friday morning to monday morning?
I'm pretty much a noob.

Here's my current equipment, please add things!

- Alice Pack (large) + LC-2 Equipment Belt + Butt Pack
- Compass + Map of the area
- Swiss Army Knife (Wenger Classic 18)
- US Army water canteen (plastic) + Canteen Cover to strap it on the LC-2 belt
- German army camping cutlery
- German army one-man tent
- medium Maglite
- WJQ-308 folding shovel

I guess that's pretty much it. Hope you guys can suggest some stuff I could get until coming friday.

As a hint, try to get some real camping gear from Globetrotter and forgett your survival trip, its not gonna work in Germany anyways plus you will miss all the fun /out/ stuff that actually works in Germany.

Wild camping for example, cutting wood in a private Forrest, open fire in a private Forrest, trespassing etc. Basically everything besides staying on the campground and sophisticated LNT stealth camping will get you a HUGE fine. So forget this man against wild bear gryllis shit, theres tons of nice things to do. you can go snowshoeing, sea kajaking, long range cycling, mountaineering, climbing, collecting wild plants/mushrooms, etc.

Dude, for that price you could have get a good working Backpack that fits your size perfectly, is comfortable and has half the weight.

IT GETS COLD AT NIGHT. REALLY COLD. EVEN IF THE SUN IS OUT OVER THE DAY AND YOU RUN AROUND IN A T-SHIRT.

Digging a latrine is pretty much required if you'll stay /out/ for an extended period.

Me too. Bowie style blade with one of those sawtoothed backs.

It's 440C and actually decent for basic tasks. I still keep it as a reminder of the great fishing adventures I had then.

Afaik the german army tent isn't really a tent but rather a tarp and if you want to use it as tent you need a second of those tarps and connect them. It's not that difficult but it can be tricky if you never done it before. Maybe even should buy a biwaksack (I don't know the english translation) as well for your sleepingbag. Also please don't destroy anthing and take your garbage back with you.

Don't worry, I got the tent all figured out. You're right, it's just a tarp but I got an extra one to lay on the ground! And yeah, I forgot to add my sleeping bag to my current equipment. I got an Alexika Tibet.

I wouldn't use another Tarp on the ground because they are a bitch to clean. Just look into Bundeswehr Elefantenhaut. Besides that the same thing goes for your sleeping back. Having a bivouac bag as a cover makes it much easier to keep the bag clean and dry. If you got a good one you might don't even need a tent the first place.

Thats the crux, you don't stay out for extended periods of time in Germany. Even digging a cat hole with a trowel happens only very rarely. Welcome to a country where you are never more than 10km away from the next neighbor. Forget your folding shovel, it is dead weight.

Np. Btw. do you have a sleeping pad for isolation from the cold ground as well? The Elefantenhaut alone won't be enough for that, so if you're shopping Bundeswehr anyways you could buy a Isomatte as well. They are easy to fold and that particular design is meant to be put into an internal back pocket of your alice pack. Makes it more comfortable to wear.

The firepit is tricky though in the summer because you could cause some roots to slowly burn and a fire poping up even after you're already gone. Also it's quite invasive in general.
