Put simply, that is all those Africans know. If they grew up in a civilisation and culture that is anathema to them, like African Americans, it is highly likely that they would act similarly to the African Americans. that is true, but I think what OP is asking is why is going outdoors as a RECREATIONAL pastime a predominantly white activity. These tribesmen are living that lifestyle because that is just a consequence of their tech and resources.

outdoorsmanship for fun, and functional outdoorsmanship that is above-and-beyond whats necessary for survival (for example wilderness exploration, amateur naturalism etc) does seem to be a part of white culture. I think that much is fair to say.

I'm going to venture money is part of it. Outdoor gear costs money. If you're strapped for cash, you won't plunk down Benjamins for shoes and other clothes you'll only use every now and then, let alone a backpack or camping gear.

Why are there so few POC in tennis, skiing, ice skating? All these sports require more gear than just a pair of trainers, and can't be practiced for free on a parking lot, unlike basketball.

I think it's just a cultural thing. Most people dont go /out/ to begin with but I've never been able to convince my darkie friends to go camping or anything. They'll break down eventually though.
