>>2016319For extended trips 5+ days, I personally use a pocket rocket and a 1.1 liter GSI Halulite pot. The pot is lightweight aluminum and is just big enough to hold a 8 oz fuel canister inside which saves a lot of space.
I have a jet boil that I use it more for weekend or windy trips but I find the other setup to be more compact and about the same weight. I've somehow managed to cause two canisters to fail over the years and I'm not sure I'd enjoy boiling water over a camp fire with a jet boil pot.
I also have a cheap $18 dollar stove with a self igniter that I carry as a backup in case my pocket rocked has issues. If I'm going on a long trip into the backcountry, I like to have a backup plan. Same goes for having a backup plan for filtering water.
