I accepted a job doing trail work in San Juan national forest from march-august. I'm a novice car camper, but will be backpacking and camping for 9 days on, with 5 days off, for 6 months.
What should I bring, how do you carry enough food for 5 days alone? Is getting a GPS unit worth it like a garmin mini?
I have already:
Pad
sleeping bag
Pocket rocket + 200 grams of isobutane
hatchet
kershaw flip knife
some small camping pots
hammock
tent
I feel unprepared but ill be with a large crew and will have food provided for the 9 day work week but need to fend for myself on the off days.
Also if any recommendations for the Cortes/Durango/Pagosa area would be appreciated.
