>>2026190When I say, tax the rich beyond 500k USD a year, I mean that.
But that DOESN'T mean I'm saying it should be given in checks to everyone equally or whatever bullshit you expect.
I mean investing that money, subsidizing housing, subsiding agriculture, subsidizing energy, etc until we have a world that can provide (even if not fancy) affordable housing to all, so that the only homeless people are those who CHOOSE to remain so.
Use that money to subsidize education, the world over. The more informed we are as a species, from top to bottom, the faster we can make progress by applying those extra minds to meaningful tasks.
I do not propose a flat check to those who choose to be drifters, or don't want to be in society. Do not misunderstand me.
Invest that money in research projects, environmental projects, etc after housing and food is taken care of.
Ensure sustainability and reward innovation with greater financial rewards yes, but if someone is motivated to work hard only if they will end up a multi-millionaire, and not if their financial rewards will peak in the hundreds of thousands a year, than it is their loss, NOT society's.
Crime should be dealt with in a far more reformationesque way, where the emphasis is on the person and helping them understand why they were selfish in their actions, and if some seems unrepental for harming their fellow man, than they must be kept in PSYCIATRIC custody until otherwise. Not brutalized through a for-profit judicial system that creates repeat offenders.
Drugs should be fully legalized, although there should be counseling and other therapeutic services available to anyone who needs them, subsidized.
If someone chooses to drop out of high school, and to refuse free college or technical schools or what have you, they should be free to do so.
But that should not mean a death sentence. It may just mean they are limited to communal housing and donated/subsidized food based on nutrition requirements.
