I got picrel for a few dollars back in May. They've been pretty useful desu.
I would not rank Coghlan's as high quality products but they aren't a shill company that pours trendy garbage out for cityfags. It's still a respectable company to me.

Honestly yeah. They do a lot of picnicky shit and what not. It's the stuff I had at my disposal when I was a kid and my dad was taking me on camping trips at sites. It serves its purpose for that intro-to-camping market without acting too pretentious.

I rode bmx for decades. Most of my life, really. In the 90’s, Odyssey was a popular company for unknown reasons. They made shit products and for unknown reasons never went out of business. Maybe they where a hood out from when products didn’t meet demanded standards in the 1980’s, but demand was so high they slid along for some reason. I dunno. Things like pic related were complete shit compared to what else was available.

Then sometime in the early 2000’s Odyssey did a complete 180. They started producing quality stuff. What was once a joke company making gimmicky, barely functional garbage was now found on nearly every bike.

Coughlans could end up the same way. We like to talk shit now, but in ten years we’ll all be using some kind of superior Coughlans camping gear.

Not him but if a company sees declining revenue they'll respond. I doubt it will happen since its everywhere and there are too many people who don't want to pay dead bird prices for every tent peg and enamel cup. Truth is people love to buy outdoors gear and don't put a ton of mileage on it so it's 90% perfectly good to go.

I'm sure a couple other odds and ends. I do mostly weekend or slightly longer backcountry hunting trips and find a lot of their small stuff to be pretty alright. Also if you're just going on an overnight or car camping then you could unironically build a perfectly fine set up with 90% Coghlans.

Emergency blankets are terrible as a camp shelter but they have a use for med kits. If somebody is hurt bad when /out/ the last thing you need is them losing body heat and getting worse. Just easy to slide in an IFAK or something similar.
