Looking at places to start a homestead (30+ acres, mostly wooded though) and am narrowing locations down, but have a few concerns:
1. Plowing, lawncare, cultivation, moving gravel, etc...
So, instead of a lawnmower, you'd get a tractor with attachments for everything, right? But I looked at prices and its HELLA expensive. Like, $20k+ expensive. How worth it is it? I was looking at cheaper options and saw a hydraulic attachment system for ATVs for ~$5k that can basically do everything I'd need except actually mow the lawn. Would that be viable and then just have a riding mower? Thoughts?
2. Money
So I have a remote job and figured I'd work remote for primary income, but I'd be buying property on a mortgage and could be fucked if I get laid off and can't find a good job within 6 months. What are ways you would make money on a homestead? What about passive income while you ARE still working. Do you just ask around the community?
Thanks, total newbie here I don't normally go on /out/
