looks like youve got a little fort there already eh? is it hollow in the middle? i love building little shelters out of pine boughs and fallen branches, its just like when we were kids. is there a rock or embankment nearby? maybe build a lean-to then layer the boughs over the top to block out the rain

That looks like a pretty nice mix of hard & softwood.
If you know how, slab them, seal ends & allow them to dry so you can make cool stuff later.
If not either build yourself a dryad cuckshed or give them to a poor friend who woodworks

fuck off "leave no trace" youre the same pos who leaves your clif bar wrapper at the side of the trail cause "the govt pays someone to pick it up". theyre not bringing any materials in to augment the structure, theres no harm in using existing materials in a way that compliments nature. not to mention the first big storm will knock it down anyway and return it to the soil.

I've never built a shelter before but want to go up into my woods and spend a day or two making/living in one. Is a teepee the best kind of shelter I could make without needing to carry in tying or cutting materials of my own? I'd like to make something I can put a fire in the middle of and sleep in comfortably.
