Personally i have bought three Samsung cells with various capacities from local shop that specializes in batteries. They all have model names and you can google the datasheets before you buy to find the optional one for your use. You pay twice as much as from amazon but at least you know what you get.
I agree that cr123 are nice for gun lights and places where size is of utmost importance but i feel these compact applications are moving towards built in custom rechargeable cells gimping the capacity even more, while 18650's provide just the right capacity/size ratio for manufacturers not to bother engineering custom cell and just going with off the shelf stuff.
Both cells are superior to standard AA's etc. when it comes to high current application, but the aaa's in your remote probably are not going anywhere soon either.
