>>203929. When you take such a long exposure, the sensor will get overexposed normally so you'd need a way to block that light. With a DSLR, the lens is threaded so you just screw-in a very dark neutral density filter, minimizing the light, so you can capture all the movement of the water in a picture like that without overexposing. Point-and-shoots don't have threaded lenses. You can buy little aftermarket accessories to give them threading in fact, but I don't think it would form a perfect enough seal for a picture like this. You'd need to pack a good tripod as well anyway.
