Poke around on youtube a bit and you'll find a few reputable blacksmiths with a decent following. Black Bear Forge comes to mind, Hoffman Blacksmithing is highly regarded for axes but is crazy expensive.

I've got a 2x72 grinder so cleanup and sharpening are quick, and new handles aren't much trouble. I put a Plumb carpenter's hatchet on a slightly longer handle and I've got something that will breeze through wood and I can choke up on it no problem
