White Mountains presidential's trail conditions?

Any of you been up in the whites recently?
How are the conditions above treeline - do you need a crampons, or are spikes/snowshoes enough?

I'm thinking about going up mt adams via valley way or airline trail this weekend

I live nowhere near there (DC) but it was icy and snowy as fuck in the mountains here a few days ago so yeah, you should buy spikes to put on your boots on Amazon. They are like $10 a pair and work pretty well. At least just bring them. I highly doubt all the snow and ice is melted that far north yet, esp. at higher elevations.

I think microspikes will work just fine, you don't need proper real crampons unless ur gonna like go rock climbing or off trail serious mountaineering.

They were 10 bucks on amazon when I got em, maybe you can find some still for 10 bucks on Amazon. 16 dollars now.

You don't need real actual crampons unless you are rock climbing. For an icy trail, microspikes are going to be perfectly fine.

Real branded crampons are like $130 and entirely unnecessary for a snowy-icy maintained trail.

At the very least you’ll need microspikes (kahtoolas or hillsounds). If you have crampons, I would bring them. The warm spell we’re having this week is going to freeze into a solid sheet of ice over the weekend and I’m not sure if trust microspikes only - it could get dicy.
