Anyone done this? I'm going tomorrow to explore the eastern side, near Forks and Quinalt to find a spot to camp off some dirt road. Kind of just exploring and shooting in the dark.

Anyone camp in the area? Good spots? I've only camped in the Cascades so I don't know how much different it will be here except wetter, thicker woods with bigger trees.

I've been there on the wild beaches, it's really chill if you can get farther out than most tourists go. Just make sure you keep track of the tides, and don't lift up any seaweed if you're afraid of crabs.
Also, watch out for vampires

it's not just wetter it changes way faster than in the cascades so never trust the forecast
I usually park at a normie spot like sol duc falls and then hike up trail until there are no people and then head off into the brush very unlikely anyone bothers you
expect difficulty with finding flat ground for a tent the ground is steep the deadfall is thick and some of it is logs 8-10+ foot diameter by 200ft long
maybe bring a hammock if you got it

I'm staying in the foothills of the Olympics, not the coast area. The Coast area is all Olympic National Park and the kind of camping I plan on doing isn't allowed there, or you need permits etc.

I’ve gone camping several times at Lena Lake, beautiful spot to stay.
The creek is good to pull water for purification and/or boiling depending on preferred method.

I like camping on the shore of the lake, though I’m not sure how high the water is right now. Last time I went up (last may) the river crossing washed out and it was a narrow log I had to clamber across to get on the far side.
Even with a heavy backpack, I made it with a walking stick though.

It was beautiful, but a the wind came in last night and then the rain this morning so I left early. Found a good spot near Lake Quinalt. Found some big, big cedars. Love the deep dark woods there. I was surprised these giant trees could be growing out of the mountain hillsides that were almost like cliffs. I looked down the side of the dirt road and you could see the top off 100 foot tall trees below you. Insane.

Nice! Glad you enjoyed your time on the peninsula! Next time check out Lena Lake like the other anon recommended. The birds there are habituated to humans and will eat out your hands or off your head if you hold put trail mix.
