>>2053157>Ever notice how Mountain Lions only seem to attack people on bicycle and trail runners?Once a year is not a threat I'm going to worry about.
>I have my doubts that running is as safe as walking.I'm to old for trail running but I've run down some really steep rock piles in my time. You don't just wake up and run up and down a hill. You train towards it. Agility, ankle and knee strength, practice your landing, judging distance and where your next 3 steps should go, knowing when you'll need to stop and how to stop on a dime, etc. Also, they aren't going break neck speed, more like a fast jog.
I will say you have to be very alert to the trail so can't pay attention the the scenery around you. But the goal isn't to appreciate nature, it's to get into shape, stay in shape, burn as many calories in a short time as possible.
