>>205460>what kind of advantages and disadvantages there are in living in a smaller townAdvantages:
-People are generally quite nice
-People are often don't give a shit about laws that are mutually regarded as being pointless and/or annoying; this can range from people smoking reefer in public to people having half-disassembled tractors and dirt bikes and shit lying all around their property
-There's a nice sense of community
-Local businesses everywhere
-In many places, you can drive for five minutes and be in the wilderness, if it's not outside your back door already. No planning, no preparation, you just go for a walk and you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Of course this doesn't necessarily apply if you're surrounded by farmland or ranches or whatever, but if you live somewhere unsuitable for agriculture then it won't be an issue
-It's much easier to grow your own food
-Hunting from your front porch
Disadvantages
-Tourists in the summer, which can range from "mildly annoying" to "I swear to fucking god if I see one more pack of condescending assholes from California or New England I'm getting my rifle and opening up indiscriminately" - as long as you don't own a small business, because in that case tourists are your bread and butter
-You may have to drive for a while to get to a store that carries anything besides basic goods, and this can be a problem when compounded with the following point
-Roads can get really, really bad during winter if you live in the mountains
-Everyone knows your name; if you or yours does something stupid, people that you've never met before will know about it.
I've probably missed a few things, but whatever.
