I won't do standard hyperbole and pretend there are no downsides to the cold, but there are many cases where I'll take winter temperatures over fucking black flies and deer flies. A good hat and ski mask are quite comfortable and extremely effective against high wind. What can you do against black flies? Bug countermeasures are all annoying to wear especially in warm weather and even then you still hear the little fuckers swarming around you.
