How is it larping if I actually do hike? We hiked up cheat mountain the spring of the year before last in mid april and found ramps on the south facing slopes and I brought scissors and harvested some.

I'm not sure exactly where Bowden cave is but I assume it is somewhere near Bickle Knob. We drove around that area last week. Ever heard of a (now unnamed) trail running parallel to Little Black Fork (a tributary of Shavers Fork) in that area?

I guess I will try a butter knife next time but I found large bags of ramps, already harvested, in the coolers of a gas station in Canaan Valley one time so I think that's my best bet.

The people ruining this spot live here. People pack huge coolers full of them to sell on the side of the road and don’t even break off the caps to replant. They also litter Mountain Dew and McDonalds all over the place I haul out at least one giant garbage bag every time I go there

what does that mean?

Also, I don't leave trash or litter when I visit.

We did see a few soda bottles along the trail, but only within a mile of the trailhead on either end, in between was so remote there was nothing (last hike on East Fork trail).

I'm definitely not trying to destroy the ecosystem, I just like making meatloaf with ramps and cooking with them in general.

You snap off the cap with the roots and replace it. Also you never harvest all of a cluster you leave a few untouched. Read the forest services’ memo on how to sustainably harvest ramps, they are going extinct for a reason
